Ena another reason you might know me

I knew Dougie quite well and a fascination of his was. the Grandfather clock that was in Miss Lidiots Post office at Landgate , When Miss Lidiot passed away, My uncle Joe inherited the clock which, is still in my family today. its been fully refurbished and ticks away , all day everyday, Do you remember it, I certainly do, when we queued up to get post office stuff and that clock was going, Tick tock, tick tock, I even did a video about it ,

The building should have been listed. It was a weaver’s cottage originally.
The aroma from the liquorice sticks hit you as soon as you opened the door.
Miss Lydiate was the chapel caretaker for over 40 years.

I don't remember the smell of those gaffer but the tick tock of the clock and the sound of the door latch, was worth the wait in the , always long queue,,

Yes, it was certainly a quite charming building.

I think there has been a thread about it some time past, along with some photos.

I am one of those kids who took apart the clock to see how it worked! Dad was very patient with me, I had disassembled three, two of them long case, before I had acquired the ability to put them back together again.

Thank you very much Tom.. I haven’t painted a thing since Cliff passed away but.. just today I’ve got my paints out, just have to find my palette board and I’ll start again tomorrow.
On another note Tom you mentioned a few weeks ago about wanting a wide snow shovel ,I know that we’ll probably not get any more snow but if you need one for anything else there’s one in our shed, it has. never been used so you might as well have it if you still want it.. it’s a pity it’s just standing here doing nothing.
